For budget projects, the Raspberry Pi 5 + AI HAT at $150 is hard to beat. Weaker performance, but the Pi ecosystem is massive and the price is right.

For the best NPU experience, the Mac Mini M4 at $599. Appleโ€™s Neural Engine has the best software support among NPUs, and the unified memory architecture is excellent for AI.

Skip the Intel/AMD NPU mini PCs for now. The software ecosystem is not ready. Revisit in 2027.
